Anti-aging from the Inside Out

Before nad after picture of a women with natural anti-aging treatments
It's inevitable - we all age! It is part of this amazing journey and no one can escape the fact that our bodies and minds will change over time. Many people opt for expensive anti-aging creams, lotions, potions, rock the Botox, and focus all of their energy on external applications.

I'd like to focus this article on some amazing nutrients that are available to combat the aging process and to help you look and feel younger.

A recent study out of the Yale school of medicine found that immune sensor NLRP3 inflammasone is a common trigger for age related decline.

"This is the first study to show that inflammation is causally linked to functional decline in aging," said lead author Vishwa Deep Dixit, professor of comparative medicine and immunobiology at Yale School of Medicine. "There are multiple cellular triggers of inflammation throughout the body, but we've pinpointed Nlrp3 as the specific sensor that activates inflammation with age."

If inflammation triggers age related decline than doesn't it make sense that we would want to reduce inflammation in the body. So what causes inflammation in the body? Well, there are the obvious factors like smoking, too much stress, lack of sleep, alcohol, sugar, and many pharmaceutical drugs. Dysbiosis (microbial imbalance) is also a leading cause of inflammation in the body. This can present in the form of:

Food sensitivities like gluten intolerance, dairy, soy, corn, solanine, heavy metals, chemicals, mycotoxins and pollutants, also are key factors in creating chronic inflammation.

What are the Key Substances that your Body Needs to Fight Inflammation?

1- Polyphenols: Polyphenols are super-duper anti-oxidants, which are the substances that protect the body from damage from free radicals. They are active constituents of cardio- and neuroprotective fruits and vegetables, such as cranberry, wild blueberry, strawberry and spinach leaf.

2- Oligomeric Proanthocyanadins- these are another type of super antioxidant found in green tea, bilberry, grape seed extract, hawthorn and other foods and herbs.

3- Substances that regulate the expression of Nuclear Factor Kappa-B, which is responsible for gene expression. NFK-B has been linked to controlling transcription of dna. It is responsible for cellular response and survival.

4- Substances that maintain prolyl endopeptidase (Pep), which is an enzyme that is said to be directly involved with brain function and neurotransmission. Blueberries, strawberries, and spinach leaf maintain Pep.

5- Natural supplements that help the body to eliminate dysbiosis, chemical and heavy metal toxicity, hypercoagulation, biofilms, and anything that causes a positive muscle test (which indicates that a person is overburdened by a toxic element).

6- Knowledge of food sensitivities are vital and so important for anti-aging. If you don't know what foods are causing inflammation, than your immune system is being consistently taxed by these foods. Food sensitivities weaken the body, promoting the aging process. Get muscle tested to figure out what foods to stay away from.

7- Substances that promote SIRT1, which speeds up the cells energy production through the mitochondria. Many studies have shown the connection between compromised mitochondria in the cell (which acts as the digestive system of the cell) and pro-inflammatory signaling. A key constituent in any anti-aging regimen should be supporting the mitochondria of the cell. Resveratrol is a substance found in red wine that has been found to turn off 3 of the 4 major aging genes and also promotes SIRT1. Nutritional supplementation is the best way to go to get the amount of resveratrol required to have anti-aging effects because the alcohol in red wine (which is pro aging) may counteract the benefit.

8- Substances that help with healthy glucose metabolism, which keeps sugar out of the blood and gets it into the cell. Biotin is a B-vitamin that helps this process.

9- Substances that help maintain proper levels of CO enzyme Q10 and omega 3 fatty acids. Wild Alaskan salmon and cod liver oil are great sources of omega 3 fatty acids.

10- Silica and hydrolyzed collagen that help reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Celery contains silica.

11- Natural anti-inflammatory enzymes like bromelain (found in pineapple), Serratiopeptidase, papain (found  in papaya), and chymotrypsin.

Not every one of these is right for everyone as we are all individuals that have different nutritional requirements. Luckily, Applied Kinesiology and Muscle Testing determines what specific requirements that your body needs to strengthen you, and to support an anti-aging protocol.
